November polling in from Essential Research shows overwhelming public support for the proposed industrial relations policies in the Secure Jobs, Better Pay bill.
The business lobby has launched a multi-million dollar scare campaign against the bill this week with full page ads in the Financial Review, while the Bill is currently before the Senate.
"Wages are going backwards under our current workplace laws. Insecure work has skyrocketed and only 4.7% of South Australians are working under a Collective Agreement with wages above award minimums. This needs to change."
"72% of Australians are ready for action to create fairer workplace laws that help wages rise for low-paid workers."
"Only 14% of the public oppose giving workers the ability to join together across different workplaces to collectively negotiate pay rises. Attempts by some politicians to block this legislation won't just harm workers, it'll haunt them at the ballot box too."
"This polling shows how out of touch the business lobby is with everyday Australians. They're trying to spin that multi-employer bargaining is somehow controversial, but only14% of people actually oppose it."
